my parents divorced in the late 70s early 80s and my sister and i are sick of the constant he said she said. we would like to know what really went on but neither of our parents are willing to be truthful. Our father decided he wasnt going to see us and cut all contact with us till we found him as adults. our mother rarely spoke of him. we know there was a custody issue and were wondering if we could get hold of transcripts from the court. i dont know if this is at all possible

Well, we used to joke that divorces and family cases are difficult for lawyers because they're the only cases where EVERYBODY is lying ! That's perhaps putting it a bit high, but the emotions and motives are so strong that the most honest individuals find themselves getting farther and farther away from objective truth when it comes to claims made and evidence given. Your parents wouldn't have been any different then than they are now.
