If it's the former then you need another car to park up in front of a wall or garage door. Have the car stop about 30cm from the wall/door. Put the headlights on dip and mark with chalk, or tape, where the beam lines up (with angled split).
Now it's time for your car to replace the other one. Position the car the same as the other one and put the dipped lights on. Adjust your lights accordingly.
Note: if your car is of different height than the other one then it won't be exactly the same.
Additionally the only proper way of adjusting the lights is at a garage/MOT test centre. When I did MOTs, if it was just the headlight alignment it was failing on then I'd adjust them myself, free of charge. If it was one of many things then I'd only note it and they can pay for the adjustment with the other things it failed on.
