How many Interpreters needed?

With the EU comprised of 27 members speaking in 20 different languages how many interpreters are needed so that each country can understand and reply to all the legislation in the EU parliament at Strasburg?

Hammer your method may be correct but bears no relationship to the actual bodies on the ground. That is 2000 translaters and 80 interpreters. Why would this be? My figures are obviously triplicated for in interpreters with 23 languages x 3 to cover the shift patterns and a bit for redundancy.

No idea, just thought I'd chip in with the maths bit as I thought that was the original question which was never actually answered!!!
