Old Movie

Can anyone help to trace an old movie (1940s/'50s).
I think it was with The Dead End Kids/ Bowery Boys etc.
The plot is as I remember it, about a kid who was desperately ill & dying & his last wish was to join the local tough guys gang (this being a film to show the good in people),the gang hearing about this kid decided to make him an honourary member before he died ( T/B I think).
I have searched IMDB without success, please help if you can, Ron.

It's from '36 but "The Devil Is a Sissy" seems to fit your description.

gettinblurry, thanks for your reply,however I don't think it's the one I'm looking for, the synopsis is similar but I'm almost sure I remember the sick boy dies at the end of the film.
