HD tv

I heard on the radio this morning that Freeview will be broadcasting HD in December. A new Freeview HD box will be required. Does this mean only the same as BBC HD and the small number of ITV progs that are currently broadcast on Freesat? Will it render Freesat unnecessary?

ITV are planning to Broadcast Freeview HD in some areas of the Country in time for the World Cup. Once the whole of UK has been changed from Analogue to Digital then other Broadcasters will begin to send out some of their Programmes in HD. If you do not have a HDTV TV you will not receive HD Pictures. You will ned to replace your TV eventually when Freeview starts showing Programmes in HD, after 2012.
Nobody will need to replace their television unless they want to view tv in high definition. They will continue to receive the broadcasts in standard def in whichever way they choose to receive digital television - integrated tv, digibox, freesat, sky or virgin.
FreeSat will be unnecessary unless you cannot get a good digital signal down your aerial and don't want either Sky or Virgin.
