mobile internet on vodafone

can anyone help me? I've got a new LG viewty smart and I can't get onto the internet via my vodafone payg sim. It's not the phone because I can access the internet via my wifi connection at home, do I have to set up my sim for internet access? if so, does anyone know how??? I've spent hours on the vodafone website and got nowhere! thanks in advance :-)

or phone vodaphone on land line?
