Why has this country, and many businesses in it, become obsessed with Tesco. I have just had an offer to enter a competition to win £2000 to spend in Tesco, as I would not spend £2 in Tesco, I have not entered. Can anyone explain?

I can't see your logic. If you won £2k to spend in Tesco you could sell the prize for £1,500 or buy goods to the value and sell them.
Apologies,
but they obviously have to go for the supermarket that they think most people use.
Personally,I always use Sainsbury's not Tesco, but if I won I would give the prize to one of my Grandchildren(who are adults).
I could spend £2k in Tesco whether I shopped there normally or not . I guess the competition is for Tesco vouchers as almost everyone is within reasonable distance of a Tescos store so could use them easily and as they sell everything from socks to TVs, toilet rolls to chilli peppers, bottled water to champagne most people could find something to spend the money on. Whoever is running the competition wants to offer a prize acceptable to the majority of the nation
