Carrying on from my earlier post I am now definitely going to get another kitten. I'm now trying to decide whether to get a boy or a girl kitten as a playmate for my 14 week old female. What have you found to be the best / worst combo? I really want them to get on!
Any advice much appreciated x x x

I have a brother and sister from the same litter. For nearly a year they got on well. Then for some unknown reason they started falling out with one another, not too bad but enough to notice, i.e. they stopped eating and sleeping together.
We were then approached by the Cats Protection about a litter where the owner was desperate for excellent homes etc. We became the proud owners of a gorgeous silver tabby, the female cat loves him, the male dislikes both of them.
We have tried all the normal tricks of making the male feel wanted and special etc i.e. special treats but to no avail. I have asked numerous friends and experts and they say we havent done anything wrong and it could come down purely to personality just like us humans!
Therefore, I dont think it matters, as long as they are both neutralised when old enough there shouldnt be a problem what sex they are.
Good Luck
Hello again. I personally would have females. We have 3 females from different litters. Although they dont play together etc because of there massive age gaps, (they are 13, 10 and 8) they still tolerate each other, will eat at together for evening meal and will sleep on same bed (although at different ends). If you get kittens i think females of roughly the same age will be better suited. It also depends if you get them Neutered. if you get a male cat and dont neuter him, he will tend to disappear for days and then spray all over your house. Females dont spray, neutered or not neutered, and they will stay close to your house once they are done.
Out of they 15 cats i have had in my lifetime, only 2 of them have been males (at separate times) and the only reason that we have had them males was because they were a brother of a new kitten and i felt sorry for them because they were the last one left out of a litter.
It is also hard to introduce a new male kitten to a cat you have had for a while. Males tend to be more Territorial and accept female kittens more then new male kittens.
But all above is my personal experiance. Everyone has different views. But i do hope this helps.
