We have a superb library service here and I can reserve what I want in advance and run my acount on line Considering my penchant for mystery and thriller books these are the sort of thing I will only read once so can't see the point in buying them.
I used to buy a lot of books but now we are living on our pensions they are not really a top priority so I'm glad to have the library .
I do buy the odd reference book, cookery book etc .But I have bookshelves that groan under the weight of it all and I keep saying I'm going to sort them out and recycle them to the charity shop :)

We have a really good library .We have to pay £7 a year ( I think ) but they have a very good selection of up to date books with a shelf of new arrivals updated regularly .Also have a free magazine exchange. Mostly buy from charity shops especially for hols. Recently bought 100 classic books for my DS and am working my way thro' them.
Our nearest library is actually about 9 miles away, but as this comes under another Council we are unable to use it.This Council ask for ID of where you live, and if it's not in their borough then hard cheese!
The nearest Library (under our council) is 12 miles away,so not very good value from a Council Tax point of view.
