Crown Court Case
1 Answers
Can anyone help with this please? I don't know anything about legal proceedings but I'll try and explain as briefly as poss. A relative appeared at Crown Court in June in a plea hearing. His barrister asked the judge for access to copies of documents/evidence being held by the CPS. The judge agreed and ordered the CPS to pass this on by July 27th. This date passed without the docs/evidence being handed over. The CPS then asked for a 2 week extension. This passed without them being handed over. The case is due in Crown Court in late Sept. My relatives' barrister has since appeared at court and says the case is now in jeopardy, but is still planned for the same date. What does this mean? What is in jeopardy? Why aren't the CPS being charged with obstructing justice as they have failed to comply with the judges orders? We are really baffled but cannot get to see the barrister till Tuesday. Can anyone advise? Thanks.
