If you really wnat to get rid of them (but I think you should wait and see what it's like when they get used for real) then try using Firefox with the add-on AdBlockPlus installed - this extension will give you the option of removing them using the context menu.

Seem to recall I right kliked and scrolled down to avatars and deleted them. I dont recommend you doing same as once done you cant see p2 etc.
