Hi

Just been speaking to my mum and her boss was saying that the nurse who done her scan told her that if the baby has a hear beat of 135 or lower the chances are its a girl. If it has a heartbeat of 135 or higher its a boy. He little ones heard beat was 130 and she had a girl!!! coincidence or not

I've been checking my 18 week notes and the beats per minute are 135-145.

Has anyone else heard of this myth?

yes ive heard of it, and according to the midwife i had it is an old wives tale. She did say that her and her colleagues had fun guessing weights and sex of babys from heartbeat and size of bump but it was never an exact science.

oh, thats interesting.

i'll get back to you next month when we find out the sex to see how accurate it is
My midwife told me that. I can't remember if she predicted what I was having.
It is just a myth.
I read the same on a website somewhere. My small ones hb was 130 and i'm having a little boy.
Yeah as the others have said, just another one of those old wives tales, but still good fun guessing! My little girl had a heartbeat of 170+ one day, which got everyone panicking!!
