We stayed with Hoseasons at that park in a 3 bedroom chalet that was very large with a good kitchen dining area.
Hoseasons call them the Starcross bungalows (but the actual park gives them a different name).

Couple of small supermarkets nearby, plus an excellent bakers, plus a fast food outlet. No large supoermarket nearby, we had to drive miles to find the nearest Tesco to do our "big shop".
If you stay at that park you will not be disappointed, but there are a few other caravan and holiday parks nearby if you dont want to styay at that one.

Dawlish Warren itself is rather small. As I said, there are quite a few holiday parks in the area. There is no "town" or high street as such in Dawlish Warren.
There are about 5 pubs though, to cater for all the holiday makers, all of which do food..
A short walk from the holiday parks is the sea front. There is a small fun fair there, plus a Go Kart track.
There is also a large pub / restaurant on the sea front, plus a couple of shops.
There is a beach there, not huge, but big enough to fit most of the people who want to go on it.
There is also a lifeguard in high season.
There is also a large grass area near the sea front and loads of people go there to have picnice, fly kites, play football or cricket and so on, A great area for families.
Dawlish Warren is built right at the mouth of the river Exe, so you cant go East from the town, but Westwards is the small coast town of Dawlish which is quite nice. You can walk along the sea front all the way from Dawlish Warren to Dawlish (it is about a mile).
At Dawlish you can do boat trips, or go sea fishing.
If you continue Westwards for about 2 miles you then get the Teignmouth (on the mouth of the river Teign), a rather larger town than Dawlish with a decent prom, a pier, and fun fair, kids play area etc. Plus loads of shops.
You can if you wish walk along the coastal path from Dawlish to Teignmouth (it is about 2 or 3 miles), but it is a lovely walk.
Those are the only 3 coastal towns in the area, as the area is rather cut off by having the river Exe in the East and the river Teign in the West.
I think that would be my main critisim of the area, if you want to go outside the immediate area you have to go "round" the river Exe eastwards or "round" the River Teign westwards.
But overall it is

One of the most interesting things about the area is that the trains go right along the sea front.
Brunel decided it would be easier to put the trains along the sea front rather than going inland over the hills.
The trains run down from Exeter, all the way down the west coast of the river Exe, then go through Dawlsih Warren (where there is a station), then on to Dawlish (another station), then on to Teignmouth (another station).
This does make it very easy to hop on a train from a trip to one of the other towns along the coast, and it makes an interesting run along the coast.
Here is a photo showing a train just outside Dawlish (you can see the Station and the bridge in the background)

In the far distance you can see a large red rock, that is near Dawlish Warren.
The coast in the far far distance is the other side of the river Exe.

Here are few photos I found on the interent to give you a flavour of the area.
Here is an aerial view of Dawlish Warren, plus the "spit" that sticks out into the river Exe.
You can see all the holiday parks in the distance.
The spit at the front is a nature reserve, but the public can walk out on it.
The green bit on the right of the spit is a golf course.
In the top left of the picture you can see the large red rock.

Peppermint Park is one of the nicer caravan sites to stay in. It 's less 'chavvy' than some of the others - but be warned, Dawlish Warren and Dawlish town are both pretty chavvy anyway!
Shouldn't stop you having a nice break though, the beaches are nice enough. VHG is quite right in pointing out that Dawlish Warren hasn't got too much going on. Might be worth a train/drive to Teignmouth one day for a bit of a change.
I live not far from this area, and disloyal as it might sound, I've always thought North Devon's beaches and countryside were much nicer. Woolacombe, for example.
