I have gone into 192.168.0.1 and opened the management page for my Netgear router. Under maintenance I have changed my password. Can anyone please confirm that this now prevents anyone else accessing my broadband???? Sorrry to sound thick...........

No,

All you have done is changed the password that is required for you to log onto the management pages of the router.

Assuming it's a wireless router and you are using wireless then you need to enable wireless security in the wireless security settings page of the router.

If you are not using wireless then turn the wireless off altogether, and if it's not a wireless router than you don't have to do anything.

Thanks I suspected as much! And yes it is wireless. Where do I find the page you mention?
follow intructions here. under the "Configuring WPA-PSK Encryption:" section personally I wouldn't bother wth any of the extra access control this page talks about.
