What can have happened to my flymo hovermower?
2 Answers
I was using my flymo, (the cheapest and simplest model) and at first it was fine. When I switched it on again it started making a different noise and I could smell burning. Although it was still cutting to a lesser degree, the smell worried me (ofcourse) so I switched it off. I tried to look inside , underneath, but could not see any vegetation or garden twine or anything which might have got stuck, nor did I hear it suck anything up...I only bought it this summer, so it's not old, but unfortunately I didn't keep the receipt, so I can't take it back.

Ihave only ever got that burning smell when something is caught up inside, turn your lawnmower over and turn the blades see if the seem to be hard to twist or are getting stuck at a certain point

You can take it back. You don't need to have proof of purchase if something is faulty. The retailer is obliged to replace or refund the item if it is unfit for purpose or not of acceptable quality. It will be easier if you can prove when and where you bought it (eg credit card statement, packaging) but you do not need to have your receipt. Don't let them fob you off - these are your rights.
