Reversal of vasectomy

How easy/painful/chances of success? And is there any point if the chap's partner would need to have IVF in any event - wouldn't it just make sense to have the sperm taken from the testes and placed in the test tube?!
Just curious........

I'm bloody sulking.
I made a simple answer, nicely done, by my standards any way, and I got taken to the cleaners, by some cow of a woman.....bleedin women........it's always bleedin women and I bet cheesefreek wears bloody leggings.
Now your problem:
1) Pick your Urologist who specialises in microscopic reversal.
2) Results depend upon time lag between reversal and vasectomy...under 3yrs, good surgeon, then you are looking at 70% success rate, but as the time gap lengthens, then the chances of success falls to 50%
3) But if the partner (female) cannot conceive, then what is the point.
4) IVF is the answer.
5) Taking sperm directly from the testes would gibe immature and non motile sperms as well as healthy ones.....not a good idea.
When you see peri...tell her that we are finished....she tried, successfully, to cause trouble.

Hello barmaid - I just came on here to tell you not to give up hope. My friend's husband had his vasectomy reversed, and within four years she had two boys. Hope things go well.
By the way sqad, I'm not a cow. I'm just an ordinary woman, with a couple of teenage sons, so obviously I must have a sense of humour!, and who enjoyed coming onto Answerbank once in a while.
