For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Breast pumps are only to be used when the mother wishes to express enough milk to feed the baby whilst she will be away from the baby. They aren't for use all the time. Using a breast pump regularly may mean that her milk will dry up. I am speaking from experience here as I had a premature baby who would not suckle from me, so I knew that I was going to be bottle feeding him, but I wanted him to have as much of my milk as possible so I bought a breast pump, but my milk dried up within a very short time.
In actual answer to your question, I've been recommended the Medela Swing breast pump by a friend who is also a midwife. My baby isn't due until mid October but I really hope I'm able to breastfeed. The reason for buying a pump from my point of view is so that I can express some for my husband to be able to give the baby a feed and to store should I have to be away from the baby.
