Hello, Yes I have tried it. I have been signed off work because I was having Anxiety attacks (not Panic attack- they are different) and I have been having EMDR therapy on the NHS but I also paid for 3 sessions of private Hypno-Therapy. My Hypno-Therapist was very good at wat she did and she said I had a talent for being able to take myself under (to a state of deep relaxation) but I just never found that it really helped me. Maybe if I had had more session with her it might have. But she only thought I'd need 3 and they were quite pricey. I have found the EMDR therapy on the NHS more helpful. Its a form of Hypno-therapy. If you want to chat about it a bit more I can give you my email address.
P.S When I went to the doctor at the beginning of my Anxiety they tried telling me I was depressed and that I needed pills. I refused to take them even though the doctor was very insisting. I told her I wanted to see someone about it (I did not feel depressed at all). When I went to see the EMDR Therapist it turned out that the reason I was having Anxiety attacks was because I was worried about my Epilepsy. Don't let the doctor palm you off with pills, these only cover up the problem and don't get to te root of it.
Kazzee, Your right about not letting the GP fob you off with pills, however some people find them useful. For some people dealing with the problem is just too difficult, and medication can be helpful. Its important to remember thet psychiatry is not an exact science and often its a case of finding the correct treatment for the individual.
Its the same with Hypnotherapy and all therapies. Interestingly longitudinal studies all show about the same success rates, which blows away the myths about one type of therapy is more successful than any other. It is a case of finding the thing that works for you. Studies also show that your trust and comfort with your therapist appears to be far more important than the tecnique they use.

Yes I do agree that some pills can be useful. But my friend was feeling anxious all the time about her boyfriend.. she had major trust issues with him but he hadn't given her any reason not to trust him and she went to the GP and the GP told her she was depressed and gave her pills.. and now almost a year later she is still on them and if she stops taking them she starts getting head aches and feeling anxious... I think that some problems shouldn't be covered up with drugs. There are roots to all these problems and until you dig up the roots you won't kill it.
