Please help me find this book..?

I'm looking for a book about girl, who I think was in some sort of coma. The book was like a flashback/dream of her life (perhaps mainly the previous summer?) and then eventually you find out what happened to her - I think she was abused. The plot of the story goes something like: sisters go away for the summer, find love and then the terrible thing happens which renders one of them unable to live life until she faces what has happened to her. I'm sure the title is something about a rose and the cover of the book was grey I think. Read it in the 1990's when at school but would like to find it and read it again.
