For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.some years ago I went on a short holiday to the Rhine area and when we arrived at the hotel, at the top of the steps of the main entrance there was a very realistic looking stork complete with baby (doll) hanging from its beak. There was a card attached, proclaiming the birth of the hotelier's daughter that day (coincidentally my own birthday) and we all had a glass of wine with our dinner to wet the baby's head. Perhaps not exactly a 'celebration' but certainly a lovely custom. :0)
