Can anyone suggest an appropriate hymn for the cremation service of an old man who loved gardening and his dogs please? Something most people know the tune to and which is necessarily not too long(or can be shortened) if possible. Apart from 'All things bright and beautiful.

There is a hymn that I sand recently which had in the words of the the (x4) chorus "how great thou art" - although I cannot remember the name of it, it wasn't too long was quite upbeat, and had lovely references to the outdoors, and the breeze/sunshine (I think) etc there were some lovely words, which I think were very suitable for someone who loved the outdoors, and was into everything natural and beautiful.

Hope this helps.
Sand? Sang stupid me....

Have just googled it, it also has a lovely tune - I am not a church person at all, but at a recent close relitive funeral this was sang, and it really summed her up, was really lovely.

When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The works Thy Hand hath made,
I see the stars,
I hear the mighty thunder,

Thy pow'r throughout
The universe displayed;

Stanza 2:
When through the woods
And forest glades I wander
I hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees;

When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze;

Refrain:

Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,

My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!

Stanza 3:
When Christ shall come,
With shouts of acclamation,
And take me home,
What joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim,
"My God, how great Thou art!"

Refrain:
Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!

Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!
I know it's not a tradional hymn but ' Morning has Broken ' is a beautiful song and one that a lot of people will be familiar with.
