if you do lose 10lb it will be mostly water and will soon be regained when you eat normally again, there are no short cuts.
what is BHF please

BHF stands for british heart foundation, apparently this diet is not actually from them so I have found out, it has been around for years though & everybody calls it by that name for some reason!!! I have looked it up on the web and it is on there by that name!! I am going to try & do it for 4 weeks & see what happens! You are supposed to be able to eat normally for the following 4 days but I am going to try to eat plenty of low fat food just in case!!!  Fingers crossed I will be skinny soon!!!
now I know let us  know how you get on
as has been said this diet has been around for years and is NOT connected to the British Heart Foundation in any way. I tried it several years ago and stuck religiously to it and I think I didn't lose any weight as it is so low calorie that you body just clings onto the weight as it thinks it is being starved. Sorry it does not work and is not a sensible way in order to lose weight.

surely the best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. i'm sure you can't acheive effective weight loss by starving yourself for days on end!

the problem is we are constantly bombarded by adverts from food companies telling us that their products can help us lose weight. the fact is, a better way to lose weight would be to eat less food in general, but the big companies can't make as much money from you if you are eating less of their products!

no offense twinkleystar, but the diet you're on just seems silly to me!

sorry, end of the first bit should say 'starving yourself for a few days'
Doomed to failure I'm afraid, as mentioned before you might lose water in the short term but the long term effect would be that the body goes into starvation mode where it will store any food it can as fat. You're also likely to lose muscle rather than fat in the short term.

Plenty of exercise will do the trick rather than dieting.
hmm this rings bells as it might be for patients who need to lose weight before an op - it is NOT a long term measure and you are NOT losing fat - so you will likely look even worse. Congrats. You are willing to suffer but not put hard work in on eating decent food and exercising more. If you were desperate you would not need to lose fat. Its a marathon not a sprint.

thanks for the response!! I know the sensible way to diet is by citting down on' bad' food & getting more excercise I have been to weightwatchers a few times & done quite well but once I lose the weight I get complacent & before I know it I am back to square one!!! I really do not binge eat in fact I do not eat more than other people but i gain weight really easily. I admit alot of the problem is lack of excercise but as a working mother I really do not have time or energy for it ! By the time i get in from work ,do all the chores that are awaiting me its midnight!! I'm just a bit desperate as we are going on holiday in 6 weeks and its putting a dampner on it!!
To Jules and WoWo - your answers are a load of nonsense. If you don't eat enough you will lose weight. Your body does not go into starvation mode and cling onto weight. Your body first of all uses up the glycogen stored in the liver. Then it starts on fat reserves and when nothing else is left it metabolises protein, ie muscle. Also, WoWo exercising on its own will not lead to weight loss.
