I'm confused by 3d - House plant. I can only make Hosts from H---a but Hosta is not a house plant. If 17a is Largs L-r-- then Hosta would fit but I'm not happy about it. Anyone else bothered?

Hosta is indeed a house plant.

It is Hosta, it's been the answer 3 times already this year - I'd kept a note of it because I didn't know it could be grown indoors either.

Thank you everyone for your comments. Having grown hostas for many years I know it to be a herbaceous perennial, grown usually in shady garden spots where other plants will not thrive. I have never known it to be grown indoors. However there does not seem to be an alternative so wll go with that.
