The smell of water?

What gives water its "smell"? Some waters are easier to smell than others, particularly treated ones like tap water (with flourine added) and pool water (chlorine). Each has an individual smell. Even purified water has a scent to it, but is that the water itself or is it something else?

its what is in the water besides H2O.

Man does not have a water appetite -that is cannot tell water from any other fluid - unlike frogs which can....
