Dog sitting

I'm looking after my friends dog. He's covered in fleas...
My questions...
1) will my cat catch them?
2) will the house get infested?
3) What's the best way to get rid of them?
If I keep him til Monday I'll take him to the vets....I don't think he's been yet.

The reason I asked this question is because someone told me that dog fleas and cat fleas were different and dog fleas wouldn't live on a cat. The dog should be going home tonight.....anything could happen though. If I still have him tomorrow I'll take him to the vets.....not my job though!!!!
Why do people get animals when they don't have a job? They must know they are going to cost money......

1 Yes, your poor cat will very likely catch them, and you might as well!!
2 Yes, the house is likely to get infested, as skin flakes unaviodably embedded in the carpet and other furnishings, will provide food; fleas don't only eat blood.
3 Get a proprietory flea killer for the house remembering to keep pets, fish, etc out of the rooms being treated, get the cat and dog to the vet as soon as possible, and keep treating the carpets for at least 3 weeks.
I once had a stray cat get into the house, and it was infested with mites, the poor thing. It took several months to get them out of the carpets downstairs.
