I have a collection of music tapes from my childhood and would like to transfer some of the songs on to my PC so that i can then transfer them to CD. Is there any software that i can buy/download that will allow me to do this? Thanks

I have a bunch of my own songs I recorded on 4 track so I'm looking to do it myself. All you have to do is connect the output lead from your hifi to the computer and it transfers the track in to MP3 format. As I said this software came with the player but I'm pretty sure there must be some out there to buy seperate.
download audacity from www.audacity.sourceforge.net it is free and tells then how to save ur tracks in mp3--connect the output from ur tape player to the line in socket on ur sound card--remember if u transfer a cassette in one go u will have 1 large audio file--if u want to be able to play the tracks on ur cd individually then u have to save them one at a time b4 burning to ur cd
You have to remember that tapes are annalogue now so the quality will be very poor, no matter how many filters you put it through unless you got a state of the art audio station you will always have poor quality recordings.
Suggestion is to find a free Mp3 download site and try to track down the songs, i have done many this way for myself.
