Excuse ignorance on technical matters but do english d.v.ds play in canada I want to send one to my broyther who lives there

Canada is Region 1 so no an English DVD which is region 2 will not play. Unless he has a DVD player that has been made region free. You could always see if you can get a region 1 DVD for him. A lot of DVD players can be made region free by using a code via the handset. A Google may reveal the code for his machine.
