Thank you all very much for your answers.
Also, I should have included inspirational words, someone may have said something profound to you that made you feel better. Any ideas?

Tennyson's Ulysses.

But....to really get your self-confidence back, I use a self-hypnosis CD. It doesn't really hypnotise you but puts in a very sleepy state (and you often nod off during playing it) but all the time th positive messages begin to work. Listen to it every day for about two weeks - I have found the results to be incredible. I then listen to it whenever I feel a little introspective. The most effective for me were Paul McKenna Motivational Power and/or Sharon Shinwell Postive Thinking (sold through here to listen). They cost about ten pounds each. Good luck
desiderata
'Phenomenal Woman' by Maya Angelou

Thank you very much for answering. I'm looking for a little book, article or saying to give to a friend who is feeling low and lacking self esteem. I wanted to give her something that is easy to read and quite short, so that she's not put off reading it. The Desiderata is good, but not quite appropriate for her, although I like it.
a friend told me...(her dad used to say it to her)

that u dont need someone to make u happy..u have to make yourself happy!
that realy hit home with me xxx
sorry - I shouldn't, but pmsl at vibra....
