70s childrens book

Very long shot here; in the early to mid seventies I used to regularly borrow from the library a series of books about a young boy's escapades. I think he was called Brewster or something similar. He was English and had a very active imagination ie; understairs cupboards became ship's holds or caves etc. I'm not sure if the books were illustrated or how many were in the series but I would love to re-read them. Please help.

It was the Bobby Brewster series by H E Todd

yes, woofgang is right. I loved those books. I can still remember one story about the bits of Bobby's body talking to him. He was at a girl's birthday party and had to ask his stomach for permission to eat icecream.  Then there was the story where he saw peoples' thought bubbles..... Great stuff!
