I hope we are all well. There are crisp blue skies outside my window - I am unsure as to whether it will last!
I heard on the radio (BBC Radio 4) today that 58% of Primary School teachers can only recall two or less poets - to me this is maddness! When teachers don't have a basic cultural grounding what hope do the kids have? Anyone else find this particularly worrying?
I'm not evening trying. I will probably go 5 days without a cig, purely because I don't fancy one, and then when the weekend comes, and I'm out for drinks/meals.... I raid the ciggie machine. :-(
My girls' school has a Scottish poetry reading competion every year for Burn's night. The whole school takes part, and parents are invited along to watch the finals and a country dancing display.
I think as China said, for children that are not confident readers poetry can be quite daunting. Mytwo love poety and enjoy reading it out to anybody that will listen , often with made up actions, They are such a pair of drama queens!

Apart from the blinding rap (that I do oh so well... not), I would also recommend 'da boss,' '**** in a box' (respect for Timberlake went up tenfold) and '*** in my pants'... Classics for all the family to enjoy.
