Is there a map/timetable for when exchanges will be upgraded on BT Broadband? I am still on 512k and I heard that my exchange would be upgraded (so I could have 1mb for no extra charge) in June but nothing has happened

Like you Im also on 512k and when I contacted BT they originally told me that hoped to update all their existing customers to 1mb or 2mb by July. But saying that they originally told me March then put it back stating that they had to test lines.

Personally think its bad because if you cancel and rejoin you will get the higher speed at less costs but BT state you dont get all the other benefits..? Which are Yahoo Mail..big deal.

If you line can accept higher speeds then you should get an email soon (thats what  I was told) .

I don't think the exchange needed to be upgraded to get the faster connections. The technology is there already, it just depends how close you are to the exchange. BT extended the reach for 1Mb connections back in January to 6km from the exchange I think, hence people are getting upgraded (for free in most cases!). Just change supplier if you're not happy.

Phone up 0800 800 060 and go through the choices. When you speak to someone ask when you will be upgraded. There is a chance if you ask, they might automatically upgrade you before the rest of the exchange.

Just to note....I didnt receive an e-mail and I was upgraded back in April. I dont auto-connect so it brings up my speed when I log-on the the internet.

Try THIS site, it should give you all the info you need.
