sound from lcd tv

Hi,
I have a LG 42lc2d teleivision. I have tried to install a sound system, but I get no sound from any of the outlets marked left, right mono or stereo. the only sound I get is when I plug the leads from the sound system amplifier into the dvd player connected to the t.v. but the sound is still only the DVD sound, not any channel sound from the T.V. The sound system has modes: CD, Aux and coax. The sound system is working o.k. as it has a test mode and all the speakers function in turn. Any ideas?

where are they plugged into your amp ?aux should be ok and check your tv it might have a function that turns external audio output on and off somewhere
