Consistent Constituencies

Don't know where this question fits but this seems like a good place.

Is there a constituency that, in a UK General Election, has ALWAYS elected an MP from the winning party? Is there one that has always voted against the winning party?

I haven't actually checked but I heard in a campaign once that the party that wins Basildon wins the general election.

It is difficult to define exactly because the constituency boundaries are readjusted every 15 years or so, so most constituencies are slightly or radically different from their nearest equivalents a few decades ago.  I would have to go away and do some boring research to find a specific answer.  I do not think that there is any seat which has always voted with the winning party, although some have done so most times.

The constituencies which have voted against the winning party most often are those which are safe for minor parties - e.g. Orkney and Shetland which has been Liberal / Lib Dem since 1837 (except 1945 when it voted Conservative) and has therefor ehad an opposition MP since 1918, or Cardigan which had a Liberal MP for most of the time (except Labour 1966-74), or the Northern Ireland constituencies, which have had MPs from their own parties since 1974.

Incywincydentally, Basildon has "always" had an MP from the winning party, but it has only existed as a constituency on its own since 1974, so that doesn't count for much.

Gravesend / Gravesham has had an MP from the winning party at every general election since it was created in 1918 except 1929.
