How to appear on TV Quizzes

I love quizzes and I watch all the good ones on tv, like Eggheads, Mastermind, Pointless. There has been a recent spate of new quizzes on ITV and BBC2 and I would like to know how you can appear in them. I have been on Eggheads, but I would like to try some more. Thanks...

Al of the shows you refer to have their own websites, where you'll normally find a link for applicants. e.g:

'Pointless' is produced by Brighter Pictures, which has now merged with its sister company (within the Endemol group), Cheetah Television, to form Remarkable Television. The Endemol website is currently only seeking applicants for 'Deal or No Deal' (via the Channel 4 website). That's probably because the next series of Pointless (to be screened in January) has already been recorded (or already has its contestants lined up) and no further series has yet been commissioned. I caught Egghead last week by chance and could not stand the way the contestants make such a meal out of giving the answer. They talked through each choice and gave reasons for not picking each one, before choosing what they thought was the correct one. Contestants used to do this on a Lotto quiz show last year. What a palaver.

This annoys me too lyn but apparently the producers ask them to elaborate before giving their answer.
