McCartney/Lennon Songs what is the beef?

Why is Sir Paul changing the now almost unchangable Lennon MacCartney songwiritng combo? I think he took more than he gave in the relationship and now is looking for more. I mean the stuff was done 30 years ago.

He's not changing it merely the order in which they are being listed for an album to be released in the US. He refers back to a conversation between him Epstein and Lennon in the early days. It was apparently agreed that he could change this whenever he sees fit. Probablem here is that that neither of the other parties involved in that conversation can currently respond.

As I understand it, Paul McCartney wrote some of the songs on his own, and wanted his name to be first on these ones, instead of John Lennon.

Yes Cathy, I read the other day that Paul was miffed about Yesterday being credited with John's name when apparently he had no part in whatsoever, writing or performing.

I think Yoko is just being spiteful not letting Paul change the names round. If i tried to enter my true feelings about Yoko Ono into this post - the swear nanny would go absolutely potty.

I think Paul's reasons for wanting McCartney-Lennon as opposed to Lennon-McCartney are quite legitimate. However, anyone with the remotest knowledge of the output of The Beatles knows who wrote what and Paul is just going about this all the wrong way. His place in history is assured. His professional output is arguably the greatest in modern history, above people like Gershwin, Porter, Berlin, and yes, Lennon. I just can't see why he's being such an arse about this.
