Gagging in Babies

We had our 16 months' old grandson to stay this weekend and I noticed when he was having dinner last night, he sometimes gagged after a mouthful. I thought maybe he'd had too big a mouthful but this wasn't the case. When I spoke to my daughter-in-law about it, she said it was a recent thing, most often occurring with little tubs of yoghurt/fromais frais - even when she just showed him a tub and asked if he wanted it, he could gag.

Is this common: is it a phase that will pass or is there an underlying medical reason? Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

quite normal for babes to gag on foods they dislike.

But he does like the little fruit fromage frais - in fact, I gave him one for dessert last night not knowing about the problem and he ate it all fine, Earlier he had gagged on some potato, again not normally a problem.

my son started putting his hand in his mouth and making himself gag at 15 month,hes now 16 month and touch wood he hasn't done it since,so im hoping its a phase!he used to laugh and do it more if we told him off and we just ignored him after that hoping it was just an attention thing,and probably realising he can do something new!they are funny/strange little things aren't they!haha!
