salla....I am not saying that females shouldn't train as doctors, all I am saying is that if you employ one in ANY medical capacity one has to take into consideration the consequences of pregnancy with their multiple and diverse sequela.

Female Drs often go for the "soft options" of non frontline jobs...e.g Baby Clinic, Blood transfusion, etc where you must admit it is more difficult to upset the British public.
Ballc0cks - they go for the 'soft option' a lot of the time because of the Old Boys' Network in a lot of the surgical, cardiological, medical fields etc. I cannot think of one female consultant at our local hospital in surgical, cardio, ortho or ENT - not because they're not interested, but maybe because historically they've always been male-dominated. And perhaps not so much these days - but in years gone by, most women consultants were 'restricted' or encouraged towards such specialities as paediatrics, Obs & Gynae etc. In our Practice, our female GPs specialise in diabetes & respiratory medicine. The ones in charge of babies & psychiatry (another soft option?!!) are fellas. The psychy ones are always getting upset bytheway - but of course, one can ignore them because they're all completely bonkers anyway .... ;-)
Sqad,

Do you think it true that some women patients prefer and feel more at ease at seeing a lady doctor regarding some of their more personal problems, especially when detailed examinations have to be carried out?

Or do you think that this just personal choice?

( just a point.......I have five great people working with me to help run my music business, and three of them are women,.... they're loyal, trustworthy and great at their jobs............but they're not doctors.....................lol )
no Equaliser - but I bet if they offered to hold your testicles while you coughed, you wouldn;t say 'no' ?!!!

salla..."b0ll0cks.........surgical disciplines demand full time, total devotion to one's speciality..........few women would choice the knife over family, whereas most men would choose....."knife before wife"

Nothing to do with "Old Boys Network"

yogi...yes I do and women should have the choice of gender of their Dr...................if they can find one.
Knife before Wife.... interesting!
Suppose you're right. Sort of. In a way. But I do like to put up a good argument - let's face it squadlet, you weren't getting much of one before I chipped in with my verbal diarrhoea...

I had a bloke who put a knife before his wife. Luckily it wasn't actually in his wife. I told him he ought to see a psychiatrist (would male or female have been best?) x
Salla,
Funny you should say that, as that has happened a few years ago.........not the coughing bit, but a lady doctor giving me a "check up".......had to keep thinking of cold water, ffs!.......it's not easy, and could be well embarrassing!!...........................lol

xx
Mmm, I supose that is a hazard of being a man with so much.. on show... so to speak.

But then again, that's like a female saying she gets turned on by a male doctor doing a smear test. Err - no!!
My dentist is a lady, and a very pretty one too, so once again i have the same problem there, when i go for my 6-monthly check ups...............the nurse too,..........and when you lie down, which is almost to the point of falling behind you, where do you put your hands, in case? ......................lol

:0)
Oh God Equaliser - don't say that. My daughter is a dental nurse and has often mentioned men who have to lie there and "hide their bits...." I hope you're not registered at her Practice - that would be tooooo weird !!
No, salla..............never happened to me, and i'm on the south coast in Brighton so hopefully you're daughter is safe.....lol
But you have to be extra careful what you wear........last time i went i was wearing a pair of nike shorts and that is where the trouble may start.

I normally just put my hands on my side, as no arm rests nowadays, and let 'em get on with it, and look into my dentists eyes, with my funky goggles on that they give me, when having a polish, if you see what i mean............lol

I'm off now to wonderful Worthing, to meet one of my aforementioned ladies that work for me, as promised her lunch earlier.
Have a great afternoon, all........see you later

yogi x
....and no..................it's not KFC...............LOL
I do agree sqad about the female doctors, this is in almost every career area these days, they spend a lot of time getting qualified and the second they hit the top they bu$$er off to get pregnant maybe 2 or three times, my last doctor (female) I only seen once then she was on the maternity leave merry go round. I have this issue with female teachers, they are a pain in the @rse!!
This is getting good now, A female saying other females are a pain in the @rse. LOL
that's because women do it so much better than men tony :)

anyway, men aren't allowed to
Your right there alba, women are so much better at being a pain in the @rse than men. LOL
