My sons teacher .

My son is dyslexic An obvously really struggles with his school work. His head of year sent a memo out to all his teachers saying DO NOT make my son read out in class! The other day his history teacher asked him to read out my son said he didn't want to so again she said stand up an read again he said no my head of year said I don't have to. She insisted he did so he left the classroom embarresed and in a panic when he left she turned to the class and said what a FREAK!!! Am obviously fuming and went up to his school to confront them . I've been told it will be looked into . Is there any thing I could or should do about this situation? To me it's discrimination against my dyslexic son and I want her job for this . Am I going over the top here ? Any advice please ? ..

refusing to apologize. And again, purely an impression, but the head doesn’t seem like the sort of person to make her apologize. So it doesn’t seem like a quantum leap of detective intuition to suspect that it was the teacher who held out for the "compromise" of a quid-pro-quo apology.

So it is important that you observe that the rest of what I say is not "judgmental" either. I simply say "if it was as bad as in your first account, how could the boy NOT walk out? It sounded as if there would be no end to the distress she was inflicting on him."

Again thanks so much for your comments and what an interesting read they've been :-) . The teacher involved my sons head of year my son an myself were presant, they were flabbergasted that I turned up with him, I wanted to ask for the head mistress to be there too but there just didn't seem to be a right time to ask to be fair the head of year was as disgusted as I was and he seemed embarresed by this teachers attitude which believe me was way worst than my son could ever have.. I will pursue it as I do want it put on her file. She said she forgot my son was dyslexic as ( she can't remember everything) her words! But the main thing is my son is totally fine and happy that we have pursued this he's a strong minded kid an knows that we had to make a stand in hope that she doesant do it to another child.. And the support and advice from you all really got me through today thankyou X

Think of it as strenuous exercise, alun. I do realize the rigours of the endurance tests I set peopl. And yes, I did care, and you are right to be concerned about her return after her maternity leave. And jonah is right to pursue it and to want it put on her file.
