scroll feature on touchpad no longer works

can anyone help please,
i have an acer aspire 5735z laptop running on vista and the scroll feature on the touchpad has all of a sudden stopped working.
any ideas please?

ive just done a system restore to before some updates happened on the laptop today and now the scroll function works again,
is there anything i can do to prevent this happenning again after updates take place without needing to do a system restore each time?

I have the same laptop and mine does that sometimes, not sure why it happens but in the past mine has always just come back of it's own accord, is very frustrating when it happens though!

strange isnt it sophie? i quite like having the scroll thing do you and miss it when its not there, like earlier today.
it was odd mine came back after i took it back to before the automatic updates..?

yeah, when I first got the laptop wasn't keen on not having a mouse but never got round to buying one and am now just so used to the touch pad i wouldn't bother. for the first couple of weeks though i did keep accidentally doing the motion to make the screen display bigger or smaller!

yeah i did too lol, and sometimes i do catch the scroll thing by accident and that can be a bit grrrry lol, but on the whole im really pleased with the laptop are you?

yeah, it's really quick as well, cant use the home computer anymore because it seems frustratingly slow compared to the laptop! hopefully won't have any problems with it ever!
