What do you want to study at university? If you've got a particular career in mind, then an Access course might be your best bet. Access courses are aimed specifically at people aged over 18 who don't have the right qualifications for university entry. As well as covering the relevant subjects at an A level equivalent standard, the courses also incorporate training on academic skills, time management, university applications and assignment writing.

Most Access courses will also offer English & Maths at GCSE level, too, if you need it. To be honest, it's unlikely you'll be able to avoid algebra altogether in order to gain a GCSE but if it gets you into uni, then surely it's worth having a bash?

There's a website here with more information about Access courses and a facility to search for suitable courses. Good luck! http://www.accesstohe.ac.uk/
