Win XP start-up screen
Is it possible to get a screen capture of the first start-up screen?
I mean the one with the small frame at the bottom with the square blue blocks that travel left to right while OS is starting up

The best way to capture Windows screens like this is to install a product like Virtual PC (free).
Install Virtual PC, then install Windows XP under that.
That will mean that Windows XP will appear in a window under your "main" operating system.
You can then take screen shots of this window.

To see how it works here is a picture of XP running under Vista

Obviously you can't use an application to capture it, as you can't run an app until the operating system is running. As squarebear, the best option is to photograph it.
Incidentally, I hope it doesn't look like that, as that's one from prior to service pack 1, after which MS dropped the the words "Home" and "Professional" from the various editions.

If you install Virtual PC, which is free from Microsoft, you can then install Windows XP under that.
Virtual PC runs in a Window on your dekstop so you can take any pictures of that Window whatever it is doing.

Here it is in action, with XP running under Vista.
