my eye has recently become very itchy. it started off with a slight bruising feeling but no actualy bruise around my left eye, then my left eye just became very itchy. the itchiness then went to my right eye for a bit and now back to my left. it's right in the corner of my eye, can't remember what you call that part of the eye-tearduct? not sure, anyway in the corner! but it also seems to be most itchy at night, so i suppose it could just be that my eyes are tired at night? i wear contacts too, so that probably doesn't help. just wondering if anyone knew if it was just tiredness or something else!?

Could be a stye,I get them frequently and they do start as a bruised feeling followed by itching.
Have you started using new make up or eye cream - or are you using old stuff even? There's a best before on most beauty products (a wee tub with 6M or 12M etc on - meaning its to be used 6 or 12 or whatever months after opening). Also give your make up brushes a good wash and try washing your eyes with a very dilute solution of baby shampoo.
I had the same trouble and also my eye watered badly when I went outdoors in the cold or wind, tears streamed down my face. This went on for ages and the corner of my eye itched. to cut a long story short Specialist at Hospital said I did not have a blocked tear duct but a narrowing of the duct right in the corner .He numbed it and then an anaesthetic injection and then a slight snick with a scalpel. Job done. A 5 minute operation. Since then the itch has gone,no tears and no blurry vision in that eye which I had before cos it was always watering. Perhaps you have the same problem Worth getting it checked out.
