If a judgement goes against you and you lose a case with all the costs involved, can you ask for time to pay?

I would address this question to the Clerk of the Court.

Having said that, hardly a day goes by where some benefit fiddler has been told to repay umpteen thousands of pounds in falsley claimed benefits at a ridiculous amount every week, for example £5.00. In some case it will take hundreds of years to pay back. I suppose this is thought to be OK when the money is being paid back to the UK taxpayers.

I assume it all depends on who you are paying the money back to. If you're skint you can hardly pay it back all in one go. If you have assets to cover the cost then perhaps the person you owe the money to could force you to pay it one go.
