Wash Basin installation
I am about to buy a Ceramica Milan 550mm Washbasin with Pedestal 2 Taphole (http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/ceramica-milan-550mm-2262-17428/2) and it doesn't come with a waste nor taps. With the waste, I would like a "pop-up" waste but they are offered as "slotted or non-slotted". Apparently the slotted wastes are used for basins WITH an overflow, and unslotted wastes are used for those basins WITHOUT an overflow.
The picture of the basin in question seems to show that the hole normally in the situation of the overflow hole is blanked-off with a silver-coloured metal disc. I don't know if this disc can be removed to become live if required? If that is the case I assume that a non-slotted waste will automatically pop up if the water level gets too high?
Does anyone know if this is the case? I can't believe that a basin would be sold that could overflow if one forgets to turn off the tap!
Thanks in advance
