It may be on Old Compton St (can't remember, times in Soho always inebriated myself!) Go for a wander........
Absinthe is still illegal in France but you *can* buy it legally in the UK - see

I'm not 100% sure, because I have never entered the shop, but karenearnold is correct: there is an oddity of an off licence at the end of old compton st (walk up wardour street on the right hand side from shaftesbury avenue, turn right onto old compton street and the shop will greet you very early on the left hand side) - there is a very striking picture in the window of a man looking seriously worse for wear, presumably due to a heavy session of said toxin! It looks Van Gogh-ish but I have never looked close enough to be sure. I would think you had a pretty good chance of finding absinthe here.
Just amending the the 'Old Compton St.' Answer. It is there in fact. Many different brands for sale. I bought La Fee's. It is called Gerry's Wines & Spirits. The brands I saw there did contain wormwood (and the magic ingredient tujone, which has the properties people are looking for in absinthe). The legal limit is 1/10th tujone to 1oz of of liquor. All the bottles sold at Gerry's fall in the legal limit. Hope this helps.
You can try Capital Drinks: http://www.capitaldri...absinthe-c-30_87.html
