I'm only just learning about wine. I've always enjoyed it but now I'm starting to recognise a good quality bottle.

I'm going to Spain in two weeks. Any wine experts out there who can tell me what quality tipple I should be looking out for?

I agree - Rioja is fabulous (you can get both red & white, although the red is the most common). There are some very good Spanish rose wines as well (I can't get the accent on the "e" in rose!!!). Probably a long shot, but if you see anything from the Martinez Bujanda vineyard, it's definately worth getting, it's wonderful. Have a great time!
