My 2 year daughter either hits or slaps when she is generally tired. I\'ve got down to her level and said mummy doesnt like that, makes mummy sad or no thats not very nice. After a couple of warnings I then put her on the bottom stair for a couple of minutes but she seems to like the naughty step!
Does anybody else have the problem? Or have you resolved this? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Can't you just put her to bed/for a nap?
It does need to stop, you could find yourself getting the wrong feedback from nursery if it doesn't. If she is hitting or slapping when tired, someone is getting in her way and she is not wanting to be restrained to go to sleep. Keep away from her when you think she is ready for a nap and let her fall asleep on the floor if she has to. It won't fo any harm. Does she have a teddy or doll that you can give her when you knwo she is ready for a nap, so thay it becomes a none restrictive signal to her that it is nap time?
Say a firm "NO!" with a stern face...make sure you are looking straight at her so she gets the message. A smack on the hand will help. Sorry this is going against "modern parenting" but a child should never hit her parents.
TTG - don't you realise that smacking her on the hand gives her the message that it is ok to hit?
Sorry lucca, I don`t agree, smacking a child doesn`t send out any messages to a child that it is ok to hit, it is a punishment to them not a message
Elvis, it's both.
