say . A friend of mine has just rung me and she said she is thinking of re-trainining for a new career.
She has two things in mind, the first is to get a qualification as a private detective , and the second is to train as a nurse for people with mental illness. So fine , but she is 71 years of age , very fit and active but would she be employable or is she just over the hill.? I honestly do not know what to say , so please any help would be very welcome. Please be as honest as you can. Sincere thanks Brenda.
It may simply be that she has seen some free courses at the local college that are free to senior citizens and she feels she needs to apply her time and energy to something interesting and worthwhile, there is nothing wrong with her commencing the training, whether it would ever lead to a vocation is another matter, but i would certainaly support her ambition, which may be something she missed out on trying in her youth. Certainly as long as she can get a free place then why not?
Thanks everyone , will support her in her aims and ambitions . she found the info on the net about being a private detective will ask her for you if you want brokenstone.
TBH, I've used a number of private detectives, and there is an awful lot of sitting about and watching stuff. She also needs to be extremely computer literate. The likelihood is, getting employment or starting her own agency as a PI will be easier than as a mental health nurse since at her age, I think that most employers would think twice. Still good on her I say.
