I just installed an extra 1GB of RAM on the PC. Can anyone tell me where I can check that it's working OK? I looked in control panel, could't see where the amount of RAM is listed so I right clicked on 'my computer' & looked at details but that still shows 512 mB.
Thanks in advance,
Kelvin.

if you go to control panel double click on the system icon,on the gen tab it should list your memory, or type in www.crucial.com/uk into your address bar, that site will scan your computer and tell you what you need to know

Are you sure you installed the correct type of RAM for your PC? Have you checked that the chip is seated properly in the slot? Every time I have done this upgrade it has always shown up immediately.

Thanks for the quick reply, yep - DDR SD RAM as specified and all seems to be connected OK. Should right clicking on my computer and looking at 'Properties' show the current RAM or what was there originally?

Are you sure it's seated properly? Check the holding clips are all in place. Check it looks seated similar to the ram already in there.

Thanks for all your help. I've established that the computer is not recognising the extra memory chips! Oh Well, back to the drawing board.
Remove the original 512, and you'll probably find that it's then recognising the 1GB. Lots of motherboards don't like mixed memory modules.
