for ancient civilisations,god was always used as a way of explaining stuff they couldnt understand ie recovering from illness,the sun rising etc etc etc but as mankind becomes more sophisticated god is needed less and less as we can now scientifically explain most things.

I live next to an Ocean, a forest, the most beautiful blue sky, a mountain over which I can see a castle, lush green vegetation, livestock etc etc
